My experiences at “OC Muay Thai” have been absolutely positive. Two years ago, I met the head trainer / owner David Jansson who immediately greeted me when I walked into his gym. David’s easy going personality allowed me to feel comfortable in an often intimating environment. I was quickly introduced to other students / fighters who went out of their way to help me.

The class began with an hour of cardio training which including flipping tires, jumping rope, a 1 mile run, shadow boxing, and line drills for proper foot work. After the cardio portion was over, we did kicking & punching drills on pads with a partner. After a series of countless kicks and punches on the pads, I was told we were going to spar. I was provided a pair of boxing gloves and entered the ring. I was matched up with a student who stood 5’07” tall and weighed 150 pounds. I felt pretty confident standing at 6’01” tall weighing 225 pounds but would soon realize that my physical frame did little to help me with my lack of cardio training and poor technique. Within the first three minutes, I was knocked down to the canvas twice by someone who was only sparring at fifty percent. I was quickly humbled and came to the realization that I was in desperate need of proper training.
